Little Prairie Acres is located in La Porte, Indiana just several miles from Lake Michigan. When we purchased the land in 2005, we finally had our space and I can tell you for a fact goats was not in the picture. It's funny how adding children to your lives can change the paths you might take and the adventures you will take with them. Little Prairie Acres is now the home for goats, chickens, quail, honey bees, a dog and cat. My children are eager to learn and Little Prairie Acres is their home. A place to grow, play, learn and Laugh!
Here at Little Prairie Acres we strive to raise quality fainting goats. The goats by nature a very docile and friendly, which make them great pets. They are not like other breeds which are known for their ability to escape from enclosure and fences. Our goats are very content in staying safe in their home and are handled with lots of love and care from the time of birth and/or until they go to their new homes. A myotonic goat, otherwise known as the fainting, peg leg, stiff leg, Tennessee and nervous goats have a hereditary disorder called myotonia congenita. When startled, younger goats will stiffen and fall over. Older goats learn to spread their legs or lean against something when startled, and often they continue to run about in an awkward, stiff-legged shuffle.
